Home Construction

It was a little bit slow this week…but happily, there is still progress to share.  The excavator came out and spread some black dirt around the lot to get it close to the final grading.  With the grading just about done, we can start working with the landscaper on the walkway and burying the downspouts.  Soon thereafter..we’ll have the driveway installed.

We also decided to take down the old (and sickly) maple tree along the street.  It has a lot of shade and a lot of character but is diseased.  We certainly would hate to leave it only to have it come down unexpectedly.  So…we’ll replace it with something that will be as big and shady.

The garage doors were also installed this week – but without the electric openers.

The only work to take place on the inside this week was on the floors.  Jim and his tiling expert laid the sub-flooring and started tiling in the master bathroom downstairs and Madeline’s bathroom upstairs.  The plywood flooring isn’t at optimum moisture level so Anne and I brought over a dehumidifier.  It’s a small gesture in a big house…but we’ve already emptied about five gallons since Saturday afternoon and FEEL much better that we’re helping progress.
