The Home Stretch

Home Construction

There are still plenty of the skilled tradesmen working on their respective last details of the construction project – but none have been so welcome a sight (at least since Ted and the guys started framing) as was the cleaning crew today at work on the windows.  They represent the final step before we move in.

Of course, despite how clean it looks the village inspectors had to weigh in on whether or not the house was fit for occupancy –  which they all agreed it was.  So there – Rick earned his pay by building us a house that we can actually live in.  We still need a couple of light fixtures and carpeting in the basement…and some tile work…but nothing major.

We’re now officially set to move in on Monday, February 2.

As I’ve previously posted, this past week was quite a busy one…with everyone racing to complete their work.  Carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, closets, carpeting, shower doors and drywall.  We had it all this week, and seemingly all at the same time.
