Away from Home

We exited Firenze today to enjoy a couple of days in Verona/Padova within the Veneto Region… you know, to see how the other Ducale lives.

After detouring off the Autostrada into Bologna for a lunch we went right to a tasting of Amarone di Valpolicella wines, then strolled the streets made famous by the Shakespearean tale of the Capulets and Montagues along with more contemporary luminaries like: Gucci, Liu-Jo, Nike and Bata.

The hotel is right in the center so I suspect we’ll dive right into sightseeing tomorrow AM!

Ciao!! 😘🇮🇹

The vineyards of Valpolicella are interwoven with industrial park buildings. The beauty of the vineyard we visited (in spite of its nondescript exteriors) served as a good reminder of something my Dad said years ago, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Good advice, KB – the people, dog (León), wines and the room were beautiful. SALUTÉ!!
Saluté with Amarone 🇮🇹🍷

Leon has a wine named after him. How many people can say that?

Piazza Erbe. Romeo & Juliet hung out here… so did the Roman Senators and now too, do our peeps Anne and Nana grace these beautiful confines.

Roman Amphitheater. American Gladiators.
