It’s been a little while since we updated the front views…so here they are. There’s also a few pics of the basement progress and Hannah’s pocket doors…we noticed these while she and I were taking measurements of her room for furniture arrangement.  We settled on swivel/rocking chairs…super comfy!

We are happy to see some visible progress again…now that the fascia is all installed. The electricians, plumbers, roofers and HVAC guys continue installing their respective systems.  Sara (cabinets) is finalizing her plan and the low-voltage guy (Chuck) will be coming by on Thursday to plan for TV/AV/Phone etc. The masons returned to […]

Here’s Madeline – taking a final walk-through (lie down?) between the pine framing that will by her Thanksgiving return to Libertyville in November be hung with wallboard and resemble truly what her bedroom suite will look like. Elsewhere in the house – the carpenters, roofers, electricians, plumbers and HVAC installers toil away.

Here’s something new…a roof.  Brad Hall (Rick’s son) has his crew of five up on the roof…after one day’s work they’re about 1/3 done. On the inside, Ted built the shed in the attic for the furnace and has been finishing up framing.  Dan and Al (electricians) are moving along as are the plumbers and […]

Well…we noticed last night that we REALLY need to look closely to notice the day’s progress of our craftsmen.  Working in the “details” must be equally exhausting for them, too. – Ted & The Carpentry Crew continue working on the fascia.  No doubt, the details and curves of the roof make this a complicated effort.  Ted said that […]

Well, hopefully we have have switches, outlets and light fixtures just where everyone would expect to find them – if not, Anne and I wasted FIVE hours of our lives looking at just those things.  We met Rick and Dan (electrician) today at the house after going through the drawings last night. While at the […]

Here are some photos that show progress that the various trades are making…as Anne said in her last post, it’s a real beehive of activity over there lately. We met today with: cabinet wiz (Sarah), stair master (Ken), master carpenter (Ted), finishing carpenter (Joel) and had lunch with Rick.  We also had several visitors today: […]

Jeff and I met with Rick today to discuss our fireplace options. As soon as I pulled up to the house I couldn’t believe how many guys were there working. The plumbers, masons, roofers and carpenters were all hard at work. Below are a few pictures capturing their hard work.           […]

Power to the People

As Hannah and I were walking around the lot yesterday, we noticed the ground had been trenched and backfilled.  Following the trail up to the house, it ended with a power meter!  Thus, ComEd has fulfilled their end of the bargain (we paid them three weeks ago) and delivered a fresh underground cable, sizzling with […]

The carpenters have company at the house…the masons.  Yep, we’ll finally have something in the house besides wood and nails.  The masons are stacking block, bricks and hi-temp stones in the shape of our fireplace.  It’s kind of cool to see how it will vent from both the basement and the great room through the […]
